Coming as really no surprise, Tim Neverett and the Pirates announced today that the play by play announcer would be leaving the team to accept a similar position with his home town team, the Boston Red Sox. It had been reported in the last few days prior to the Holiday, that Neverett was in fact offered the job with WEEI, doing the play by play on the radio side.
Both the Pirates and Neverett had positive words for each other today:
Neverett, a New England native, began working with the Pirates in 2009. There is no word at this point on what the Pirates plans are to replace Neverett.
