BRADENTON, Fla. — This spring, manager Clint Hurdle has pointed to the impact that keeping the starters healthy and on the field could have on the team’s prospects.
To address that issue, the Pirates made changes to their training staff, and Hurdle said this week that the players inspired those changes.
“That’s one of the reasons we shuffled, in some areas, the personnel there, from the conversations that they had with me on the adjustments we’re making,” Hurdle said. “That was a challenge for us and we believe we’ve taken the steps with the personnel.”
Gregory Polanco went on the disabled list three times because of a strained left hamstring.
