CINCINNATI — Kyle Crick could feel the nerves when he entered Wednesday’s Pirates game in the 12th inning with the possibility of earning his first big-league save. As he ran out from the bullpen, his knees were a little wobbly. He threw a pitch in the high-90s to bench coach Tom Prince, who was catching him during his warm-ups.
“I think he told me to take it easy, and I did, and it freed up my arm a little bit at the end,” Crick said. “I got some extension. He was not happy about it.”
While the game sped up a bit on Crick, and he loaded the bases, he managed to end it in the 12th.
