"That might be the best I've ever felt": Jameson Taillon pounds the zone in Pirates' win over Braves

BRADENTON, Fla. — The Pirates beat the Atlanta Braves, 12-9, at LECOM Park. Here’s what you need to know from the day’s action:

On the mound

Jameson Taillon threw 59 pitches over five innings — and was so efficient he had to throw a short bullpen session after the game to build up his workload. He threw only eight strikes in the first inning. His first 11 pitches (and 24 out of the first 28 pitches) were strikes, and he threw 15 first-pitch strikes to the 18 batters he faced. The only hit he gave up was an 0-1 homer to Ozzie Albies in the fourth inning, and he walked two.
