Taillon waiting to see what’s next in rehab

CINCINNATI -- Jameson Taillon still has no clarity on whether he will need surgery.

On the injured list since May 2 with a strained flexor tendon in his right elbow, Taillon was examined Monday by Dr. David Altchek in New York. However, Altchek had no recommendation on what the next step should be in Taillon’s rehab.

“We’re still processing and gathering intel to ultimately make the best decision for Jameson,” Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday before the Pirates played the Reds at Great American Ball Park. “We’re assessing the options to whether we should continue with conservative care or the possibility of a surgical procedure.
