Taillon solid, but Bucs' win streak ends at 5

WASHINGTON -- After two shaky starts, Jameson Taillon looked more like the pitcher the Pirates expect him to be. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the right-hander to avoid losing his third straight game.

Taillon went six innings -- more than his previous two outings combined -- but a troublesome fourth proved to be the difference in a 3-2 loss to the Nationals on Monday night in the series opener, ending the Bucs' season-high win streak at five games.

Still, it was a positive outcome for Taillon, who manager Clint Hurdle said went through "concentrated, intentional, focused work" in between starts.
