ST. LOUIS -- The Pirates started an entirely homegrown lineup in their 4-3 win against the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon at Busch Stadium -- nine players who were either drafted by Pittsburgh or signed as international free agents. They were led by Jameson Taillon, who put together the kind of performance the Bucs have come to expect from him as he nears the end of his first full injury-free season in the Majors.
Taillon held the Cardinals to two runs on four hits as he worked into the eighth inning, his 19th straight start allowing three earned runs or fewer.
