BRADENTON, Fla. — Chris Stewart will start behind the plate for the Pirates today, playing in his first spring game of the season.
Stewart had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in September. He is well past the six-to-eight week recovery time, but he’s also 35, with a lot of mileage on those knees, so the Pirates have brought him along slowly.
Austin Meadows will bat third and play right field today. Trevor Williams will get his first start, and Steven Brault will also pitch.
The Braves are starting an interesting lineup against the Pirates today.
