BRADENTON, Fla. — Steven Brault enjoyed himself this winter. He saw The Chainsmokers in Las Vegas. He visited his brother in Seattle — even more of a treat than normal because his brother serves aboard submarines in the Navy.
“When he’s gone, he is gone,” Brault said. “You cannot make contact with him, basically. It’s nice to be able to spend some time with him.”
While home in San Diego, Brault went to work. Before reporting to spring training, where he will attempt to earn a spot in the Pirates starting rotation, Brault addressed his body and pitch arsenal, upgrading one and expanding the other.
