While the rest of the team is off until Monday, the Steelers' front office isn't taking any time away from things.
In fact, they're closing in on a deal that will make outside linebacker T.J. Watt the highest-paid outside linebacker in NFL history, an honor currently owned by the Bears Khalil Mack, who signed a six-year, $141-million contract in 2018.
Watt has been sitting out the team's training camp practices and preseason games while his agents and the Steelers work on the new deal. But team president Art Rooney II previously stated the team wanted to get a new deal done before the start of the regular season.
