Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that some of the team's players currently on injured reserve might be close to returning to the Steelers.
Wednesday, one did, as offensive tackle Zach Banner was activated off the NFL's three-week Reserve/Injured list.
Banner was placed on the list at the start of the regular season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL suffered in the 2020 regular season opener against the Giants. The Steelers now have 21 calendar days to either place him on their 53-man roster or lose him to season-ending injured reserve.
Getting Banner back would be a boost for the team's struggling offensive line.
