With two games remaining in the month of April, Trevor Williams has been the Pirates’ steadiest starter.
Williams can at least nip at the heels of Jameson Taillon, who has thrown a one-hit shutout, and Ivan Nova, who just pitched eight scoreless innings, in the flash department. He threw six no-hit innings in his first start of the season. But Williams has also avoided the short outings, of which Taillon has two. Williams was at it again Saturday with six strong innings in the Pirates’ 6-2 victory against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park.
The Pirates won their fourth game in a row and have a chance to sweep the series Sunday.
