Starling Marte was not in the Pirates’ lineup Thursday for the second game in a row, and the Pirates are moving closer to a decision on a disabled list stint as Marte continues receiving treatment for his right oblique.
Marte left Tuesday’s game after hurting his oblique on a swing.
“Wanted to give him two days to completely calm things down,” manager Clint Hurdle said Thursday afternoon. “He’s in the training room right now going through a series of testing again. Then we’ll see if there’s any opportunity to get him to move around.”
Hurdle said the Pirates are close to making a call on whether or not Marte will go on the 10-day disabled list.
