Slow is fast as George Kontos looks to improve

George Kontos needs to slow down in order to speed up.

Kontos described the issues that contributed to allowing a run in three of his past four outings as related to falling behind batters because his delivery goes too fast, and therefore his arm goes too slow.

“When you stay over the rubber, and you separate on time, your arm has a cleaner, quicker path to get in front of you,” Kontos said. “And when you start trying to rush a little bit or try to be too quick to home and you don’t quite stay over the rubber long enough, not only does your arm get a little bit longer but your stuff suffers because the hitter sees the ball earlier and things tend to be elevated.
