Former major leaguer and Upper St. Clair graduate Sean Casey will accept the Service Above Self award at the 11th Annual Chuck Tanner Awards Banquet, to be held Nov. 11 at the Rivers Club.
Casey played for 12 seasons in the majors, including half a season in Pittsburgh in 2006. He is currently an MLB Network analyst.
ESPN news editor for remote productions Claire Smith, who this summer was honored at the National Baseball Hall of Fame as the winner of the Baseball Writers Association of America’s J.G. Taylor Spink award, will receive the Sally O’Leary Distinguished Women in Baseball award.
