MOBILE, Ala. -- Steelers president Art Rooney II has proudly taken up the cause of minority hirings to leadership positions, a legacy that began with his father, Dan, being instrumental in drawing up some of the rules in place in the NFL in what is now called the Rooney Rule.
With former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores filing a lawsuit alleging racist hiring practices and racial discrimination among other allegations, Rooney released a statement Thursday regarding the situation.
Rooney declined to comment specifically against the allegations Flores raised against the Broncos, Giants and Dolphins, but he did address what he called "the general state of affairs in regard to Diversity policies" in the league.
