What are the Pirates waiting for?
I’m not talking about doing something — anything — to make their team better this season. That costs money. We all know how the Pirates loathe spending it. They’re not going to do anything significant — unless you count signing Daniel Nava to a minor-league contract — to keep up with the Cubs, Brewers and Cardinals in the National League Central Division. Those teams have left the poor, pitiful Pirates far behind.
I’m talking about trading Josh Harrison, Jordy Mercer and Francisco Cervelli. Spring training starts this week. Why haven’t the Pirates moved those guys?
