I shook hands with Pirates general manager Neal Huntington before the game Sunday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. Surprisingly, I didn’t walk away with third-degree burns. Huntington is that hot.
“We’ve all made mistakes,” he demurred.
The man isn’t just good at his job. He’s also humble.
Huntington proved his value long ago, building the Pirates into a playoff team after 20 consecutive losing seasons. That made him a miracle worker to those of us who believed we wouldn’t see a winning baseball club in Pittsburgh again. But Huntington has done his best work since the end of the 2014 season.
