So you wanted Tyler Glasnow? I get it. It’s natural to want what you don’t have. But if one thing became clear Saturday when the Pirates played the Philadelphia Phillies, it is this: Be careful of what you wish.
For much of the baseball season, as Francisco Liriano, Jon Niese, Jeff Locke and Juan Nicasio struggled in the Pirates rotation and Gerrit Cole went on the disabled list, the public call for Glasnow was deafening. Pirates management kept saying Glasnow wasn’t ready. Few wanted to believe it.
Well, do you believe it now?
The Pirates won, 7-4, Saturday, no thanks to Glasnow.
