Right-hander Tyler Eppler cut from Pirates big-league camp

The Pirates reassigned right-hander Tyler Eppler to minor league camp Saturday.

Eppler, 25, reached Class AAA Indianapolis last season, posting a 4.89 ERA in 27 games, including 21 games, for the Indians. The Pirates selected him in the sixth round of the 2014 draft out of Sam Houston State.

Eppler made one start at big-league camp this spring, throwing two scoreless in the Pirates’ first game Feb. 23. He pitched two innings in the Pirates’ victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday, earning the save despite giving up three solo homers.
