Reports indicate Stewart and Locke have re-upped with Pirates

The Pirates and backup catcher Chris Stewart have agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with a club option for 2018, according to multiple reports.

Stewart, 33, batted .289 last season and appeared in 58 games for the Pirates as primary backup to starting catcher Francisco Cervelli. Stewart made $1,225,000 million in 2015 and was projected by MLBTradeRumors.com to make $1.6 million in 2016, his final year of arbitration.

When reached Thursday, Jim Kuzmich, Stewart's agent, said he could not comment on the reported deal.

The Pirates acquired Stewart from the New York Yankees Dec.
