A former Pirates minor leaguer is suing the organization for $10 million for an alleged breach of contract, according to a report in a Dominican newspaper.
According to a report last week from Diario Libre, former outfielder Rudy Guzman is suing the Pirates in a court in the Dominican Republic for “moral, social, psychological, professional, labor and economic damages.”
Diario Libre reported that it has access to the lawsuit, in which Guzman, 26, claims that former director of Latin American scouting Rene Gayo convinced Guzman to leave the military and sign with the Pirates for $100,000.
