At this time last year, Elias Diaz looked to be the Pirates' catcher of the future. On Monday, he signed a minor-league contract with the Rockies.

Diaz signed with the Pirates as an international free agent in 2008 and was with the organization for 11 seasons. He established himself as one of the Pirates' best prospects around 2015, and Baseball America graded him as the best defensive catcher in the minors that season.
