Rare Honus Wagner baseball card up for auction

A rare Honus Wagner T206 baseball card that could fetch upwards of $1 million is up for auction later this month.

Wagner, one of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ all-time greatest baseball players, called Carnegie his home.

J. Ross Greene, of the Atlanta area, bought one of the T206 cards that could be traced back to its original owner, he told WSB-TV in Atlanta.

He said he paid $48,500 for the card in 1996. Now, Greene wants to sell it to help pay for his eight grandchildren’s educations.

SCP Auctions is handling the online bidding, which starts May 24.
