Rain postpones Pirates-Cardinals tilt; doubleheader set for Wednesday

The Pirates’ game tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals has been canceled due to rain, postponing the Cardinals’ chance of clinching the National League Central title for at least another day.

The games will be made up during a split doubleheader Wednesday. The first game will begin at 1:35 p.m., followed by the regularly scheduled 7:05 p.m. game.

The Pirates trail St. Louis by four games, and the Cardinals’ magic number – the number of Cardinals victories and Pirates losses that give the Cardinals the division title – is two, meaning if they win one of the next two games, they win the NL Central.
