In today’s game there are a lot of metrics that can be used to measure players on both offense and defense. One thing that remains, however, is that an error is not good for any player to make. The Pittsburgh Pirates ranked second to last in both errors made and fielding percentage last season, which cost them a lot of games.
There are better metrics to use like DRS, UZR, and UZR150 and others, but at the end of the day nobody wants to see their team at the bottom of two general defensive categories. This should be something that the Bucs try to improve upon this offseason with a new coaching staff and player acquisitions.
