The Pittsburgh Pirates have brought back a familiar face, claiming right-handed pitcher Shane Carle off waivers from the Colorado Rockies. To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Johnny Barbato has been designated for assignment.
Carle was a tenth round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013. They traded him to the Colorado Rockies for Rob Scahill back on November 11, 2014. Since then, Carle has worked his way up to the majors, debuting in 2017 and throwing four innings over three appearances. When he was with the Pirates, he relied on a sinker that sat 88-92 MPH and could touch 94 MPH.
