While the Pittsburgh Pirates did not have a game on Monday, they did make a roster move. After the San Francisco Giants designated him for assignment, the Pirates claimed infielder Corban Joseph off waivers on Monday.
Joseph has been added to the Pirates active roster. In order to make room for him on the 40-man roster, starting pitcher Chris Archer was transferred from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. This came after the team announced that Archer will be shutdown for the season due to shoulder issues.
In addition to the Giants, Joseph has also spent time at the MLB level with the Oakland Athletics this season.
