For once the team went “out of their comfort zone” and acquired an established player that is perceived as one of the better pitchers in baseball. That alone made Chris Archer beloved to Pittsburgh Pirates fans. He did not have to do anything, but since 4:00 on Tuesday he gave the Pittsburgh Pirates fan base an instant jolt.
Honestly, it was very similar to when the team acquired A.J. Burnett. When the Pittsburgh Pirates brought Burnett in back during the 2011-2012 offseason many fans were excited.
