Former Michigan signee and 2023 four-star center Papa Kante announced his commitment to Pitt Monday afternoon, furthering a stellar incoming freshman class for reigning ACC Coach of the Year Jeff Capel.
Kante requested his release from his letter of intent at Michigan in mid-April, thus re-opening his recruitment. A native of Senegal, he held 22 total offers out of South Kent High School in Connecticut during his original recruitment. Pitt was in the mix the first go-round.
Listed at 6-foot-10 and 225 pounds, Kante completes what is now the best frontcourt in the ACC, alongside center Federiko Federiko and forwards Guillermo and Jorge Diaz Graham, Blake Hinson, Will Jeffress, High Point transfer Zack Austin, and incoming freshman Marlon Barnes.
