Pirates unsure when Jung Ho Kang can report because of DUI trial

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Tuesday they are unsure when Jung Ho Kang will be able to report to spring training, but that it won't be by Friday, the day of the team's first full workout.

Kang, 29, is scheduled to go on trial in South Korea on Feb. 22 for a December DUI arrest; he allegedly fled the scene of an accident. When he was formally charged earlier this month, the reported was fined 15 million won ($13,177.05).

Pirates president Frank Coonelly said in a statement Tuesday that it is unknown how long the trial will last or when the sentencing phase, if necessary, would be scheduled.
