The Pittsburgh Pirates are adding another left-handed reliever, this time acquiring Josh Walker from the New York Mets. Walker had recently been designated for assignment. The move was first reported by Robert Murray.
Walker has spent parts of the last two seasons in the majors with the Mets, combining for a 6.45 ERA in 22.1 innings. He’s shown a good ability to get strikeouts, with a 9.3 K/9, but control issues have led to a 4.8 BB/9. His advanced metrics look better this year, with a 5.11 ERA compared to a 3.89 FIP in 12.
