The Pirates have slowly begun to turn things around as they won their second in a row against the National League Central Division-leading Cardinals, 4-3, in front of a Mother’s Day crowd of 34,036 at PNC Park.
It was the third win in four games for the Pirates, who had stumbled to a five-game losing streak early last week.
And leading the charge, especially at the plate, has been rookie infielder Jung Ho Kang, whose one-out single in the bottom of the seventh drove in Steve Lombardozzi with what turned out to be the winning run.
