The Pirates started selling "I Survived the Tarp Monster" shirts at PNC Park Friday night, in reference to a groundkeeper's unfortunate incident with the field's tarp two nights earlier.
The shirts were conceived by Aramark, which handles retail operations and facilities at PNC Park. They got the ball rolling Tuesday night, just hours after field maintenance supervisor Matt Gerhardt was swallowed up by the tarp during a rain delay, according to Steve Musciano, general manager for Aramark at PNC Park.
Musciano said they went through the licensing process with Majestic, which made the shirts, and MLB as quickly as possible to get the shirts on the shelves, where they're being sold for 25 dollars apiece.
