The excitement never stops! The Pirates have agreed to a minor league deal with right-hander Tom Koehler. There isn’t a spring training invite as Koehler is still recovering from shoulder surgery, which he underwent last July. It’s not clear what his timetable might be, except that he’ll probably miss most of the 2019 season.
The Dodgers signed Koehler to a $2M deal last year with the idea of moving him to the bullpen, but that never got underway. He suffered a shoulder strain before the season, then had a setback and underwent the surgery. Before all that, he had a career record of 36-55, mostly with Miami and mostly as a starter, on a 4.
