In the final game of a three-game set against one of the best team’s in baseball, the Pittsburgh Pirates fell apart. After being competitive in the first two games of the series, losing each by one run (2-1, 4-3), the bottom fell out Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Not only were Pittsburgh’s bats silent, wracking up just three hits, two of which came from Colin Moran (2-for-4), but the pitching was also shellacked, as starter JT Brubaker gave up seven runs on eight hits in just four innings pitched.
He struck out six and walked two, while giving up a two-run homer to Max Muncy in the first, a solo shot to AJ Pollock in the second, and a three-run shot, again to Muncy (his 28th of the year) in the fourth.
