Tyler Anderson has had some good starts this season for the Pirates. In fact, some might say he’s been the brightest part of the rotation. However, tonight was not one of those good starts.
Anderson gave up five runs in the first inning, including a Yan Gomes grand slam in the Pirates’ 8-1 loss to the Washington Nationals in the second game of their three-game set.
Anderson settled down after the first, giving up just one more run in the fourth off a Trea Turner triple (say that five times fast!). But even if Anderson hadn’t given up the five runs in the first, the Pirates still wouldn’t have won tonight’s contest.
