Pirates outfielder Travis Snider and first baseman Travis Ishikawa elected free agency Thursday, according to the team’s official transactions page.
Right-hander Deolis Guerra was sent outright to Class AAA Indianapolis. With these moves, the Pirates cleared three spots on their 40-man roster.
The Pirates traded Snider to the Baltimore Orioles in January in exchange for minor league lefties Steven Brault and Stephen Tarpley. After the Orioles released him in August, Snider signed a minor league deal with the Pirates and was promoted in September. He went 5 for 26 with the Pirates.
Ishikawa, another former Pirate like Snider, joined the team this past season in a July waiver claim.
