PHOENIX — The Pirates on Monday announced that they had signed seven players from the 2018 amateur draft. They are:
- Right-hander Aaron Shortridge, a fourth-rounder from the University of California, who had a 2.77 ERA and struck out 74 batters in 17 games (12 starts) this year; he signed for $475,000, according to MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis;
- sixth-round pick Michael Flynn, a righty from the University of Arizona, who had a 4.89 ERA as a junior and a 3.29 ERA in 2017. He signed for $250,000, according to Callis;
- outfielder Brett Kinneman, a seventh-round pick from North Carolina State University, who hit .
