The Pirates have signed right-handed pitcher Vicente Campos ($) to a minor league contract, with an invitation to major league spring training. (Yeah, yeah, I know . . . .) Campos was on a lot of prospect lists back around the Eisenhower administration, but he’s spent a large amount of time hurt. He’s pitched in one major league game, with Arizona in 2016. He was with the Angels organization in 2017 and part of 2018, but spent much of his time hurt and got most of his playing time in 2018 in the independent Atlantic League. Campos got into the mid-90s in his prospect days, but averaged only about 89 mph in his one big league outing.
