The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that they’ve signed left-handed pitcher Kevin Siegrist to a minor league deal with an invite to MLB Spring Training. Siegrist is a 28-year-old reliever who has a 3.04 ERA and a 3.99 xFIP in 245.2 innings in the majors, spanning parts of five seasons. That also includes a 10.48 K/9 and a 4.25 BB/9 ratio.
He’s coming off a down year in 2017, where he combined for a 4.81 ERA and a 4.58 xFIP in 39.1 innings between the Cardinals and Phillies. His walks were up, and like a lot of pitchers, his home run totals saw a spike in 2017.
