The Pirates have signed infielder Ke'Bryan Hayes, the team's supplemental first-round draft pick at No. 32 overall.
“Today is an exciting day as we welcome Ke’Bryan into the Pirates organization,” director of amateur scouting Joe DelliCarri said in a statement this afternoon. “Ke’Bryan’s baseball foundation and advanced feel for playing the game on both sides of the ball will serve him well in working with our player development staff throughout his career path with the Pirates.”
Hayes, 18, is the son of former Pirate and Major Leaguer Charlie Hayes. He hit .436 (41-for-94) with 16 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 27 RBI and 12 stolen bases as a senior this year at Concordia Lutheran High School in Texas.
