LOS ANGELES — Pirates players, coaches and staff wore “JAMO #50” wristbands Wednesday at Dodger Stadium in support of right-hander Jameson Taillon, who on Monday underwent surgery at Allegheny General Hospital for suspected testicular cancer.
Taillon, 25, is on the 10-day disabled list. His recovery timeline is undetermined. According to Cleveland Clinic, 95 percent of such cases are treated successfully.
The wristbands were ordered by the Pirates communications staff. They sent 100 to Dodger Stadium Wednesday, and they were handed out to club personnel before the game.
There currently is no plan to purchase more wristbands and make them available to the public.
