PHILADELPHIA — The Pirates will be shipping up to Boston to start the 2017 regular season. They are set to open next season April 3 with their first visit to Fenway Park since June 2005, then return to Pittsburgh to host the Atlanta Braves April 7 in the home opener at PNC Park.
Major League Baseball released the full 2017 regular season scheduled Wednesday afternoon. Games will begin with two games April 2, a Sunday, with the Pirates starting the next day.
The Pirates have not played a home opener against the Braves since 1998. The Pirates will pay their first visit to the Braves’ new stadium, SunTrust Park, May 22-25 for a four-game series.
