The first wave of September call-ups will arrive at PNC Park today, when five players — right-hander Jameson Taillon, left-hander Steven Brault, catcher Chris Stewart and infielders Adam Frazier and Jason Rogers — are expected to rejoin the Pirates for the season's stretch run.
Taillon, Brault and Frazier were optioned earlier this week to rookie-level Bristol, a procedural move that allowed them to return once Bristol's season ended Thursday. Taillon will start tonight in the Pirates' series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Stewart will be reinstated from the disabled list, where he has toiled since July 2 because of left knee discomfort.
