The Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday made the final moves to set their Opening Day roster, with the most notable decision being Jared Jones making the Opening Day rotation.
Jones had an impressive spring, with no earned runs in 16.1 innings of work, along with some of the best stuff on the team. He will be third in the Opening Day order, making his debut on Sunday against the Miami Marlins. That also puts him in line to pitch the home opener in Pittsburgh on April 5th.
“He performed really well in Spring Training,” said Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington.
