The Pirates have sent right-hander Shane Carle to Atlanta for the same return as they got for Andrew McCutchen a player to be named later or cash.
The Pirates had obtained Carle on waivers from Colorado, then designated him for assignment to clear roster space after the Gerrit Cole trade. They had originally drafted Carle, but traded him to the Rockies for the long-departed Rob Scahill.
