Jameson Taillon is headed back to the minors — for now.
After throwing six innings of three-run baseball in his debut Wednesday against the New York Mets, a series finale the Pirates went on to lose, 6-5, in 10 innings, Taillon was optioned Thursday when the team recalled left-hander Kyle Lobstein from Class AAA Indianapolis.
The Pirates are in Denver for a make-up game against the Colorado Rockies, a series finale that was rained out May 22, and need bullpen help. They swept a doubleheader Tuesday and went to extras on Wednesday, running out of pitchers in the process.
