The Bucs are scrambling to compensate for the injuries to third baseman Josh Harrison and shortstop Jordy Mercer, neither are expected to be back until early September.
Florimon, 28, was acquired in November on waivers from the Washington Nationals. In 61 games with the Triple-A Indians, Florimon has played every infield position with the exception of first base. He hit .254, with an on-base percentage of .324.
Two years ago, Florimon was the regular shortstop of the Minnesota Twins, while batting .221 in 134 games.
Boscan ended his third stint of the season with the Pirates, and he hasn't yet made his big league debut.
