After another bad outing by Antonio Bastardo Saturday, manager Clint Hurdle said the Pirates continue to look for the root of the issue.
“You ask if they’re hurt, you ask if there’s an injury, you ask if they feel fatigue or pain — ‘no, no, no, no, no,’” Hurdle said. “Then you watch the velocity, which would be another indicator that something’s going on. We’ve just got to continue to try to peel back the layers to the best of our ability, the best of the training staff’s ability, and his honesty to figure out what’s next.”
Hurdle mentioned Bastardo’s velocity for the second time Sunday morning.
